Learn How to Read Guitar Tabs Because New Tabs Are Coming Online
August 19, 2007
I was recently hunting for news on how to read guitar tabs when I ran across an article from Cybergrass.com about new tabs being added by bluegrass musician Ron Block on his site.
It seems the tabs are from the Traditional Guitar Workbook and Traditional Banjo workbook.
Tabs from The Traditional Guitar Workbook include tabs by Larry Sparks, Don Reno, and other great guitarists. As of this writing, the site includes 22 tabs.
If you’re not familiar with Ron, his latest album was released in June, and introduces many first-time listeners to the man who played banjo and guitar for Alison Krauss and Union Station.
Although it took me a long time to learn how to read banjo tabs (even though I had an in-person teacher), I learned guitar tabs pretty fast during an online class I took from Ben Edwards. I still need a lot of practice, but at least my playing doesn’t suck!
